Industrial heat pumps
Industrial Heat Pumps: Process and Building Heat from Waste Heat – Efficient, Scalable, Eligible for Subsidies
Industrial heat pumps are an efficient solution for reliably providing heat in industrial and commercial settings—especially when the goal is to lower energy costs and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. A major advantage lies in the use of suitable heat sources, such as waste heat from industrial processes or ambient energy.
Industrial heat pumps tap into unused heat sources from cooling processes, compressors, or ambient air/water and raise them to usable temperature levels for heating or process applications. In plastics, metal, and chemical applications, this significantly reduces the load on boilers; combined with free cooling and intelligent control, this results in very low operating costs. ONI integrates heat pumps modularly into existing refrigeration/heat recovery systems or supplies them in containerized form. The result: lower emissions and greater independence from fossil fuel prices.
Predictable energy costs and ESG benefits combined with high availability—all from a single partner who handles planning, construction, and service.

High-Temperature Heat Pumps for Industrial Use
A high-temperature heat pump is a practical solution when higher flow temperatures are required in industrial applications—for example, in existing facilities or for specific types of process heat. We assess feasibility based on the heat source, the required temperature levels, and integration into the existing heat generation system.
Air-to-air heat pump
An air-to-air heat pump uses outdoor air as a heat source and transfers the heat directly to indoor spaces via the air. It is particularly suitable when rooms need to be heated or cooled quickly and flexibly and an air-based distribution system is already in place. Location conditions, the load profile, and a sensible control strategy are crucial for efficient operation, ensuring that comfort and energy costs are balanced in everyday use.
Water-to-Water Heat Pump for Industrial Use
A water-to-water heat pump uses groundwater or process water as a heat source and can therefore operate very efficiently because the source temperatures are usually relatively stable. It is particularly suitable for applications with a constant heat demand—e.g., for heating buildings or for specific process heating requirements.
Industrial heat pumps for various applications
Industrial heat pumps are of interest wherever reliable heat is needed and energy must be used efficiently—whether for buildings, supply systems, or process heat. The potential is particularly great when waste heat from industrial processes is available as a heat source, allowing heat generation to be decoupled from fossil fuels.
Typical applications include heating halls and buildings, maintaining temperature levels in processes, and hybrid concepts where heat pumps supplement existing systems. We help companies define the right solution and plan its integration to ensure efficiency and operational reliability in day-to-day use.

Industrial heat pumps are primarily used to provide heating for industrial and commercial applications—for example, to heat warehouses and buildings or to supply process heat. They are particularly well-suited when stable temperatures are required and heat pumps can be easily integrated into existing systems.
