Benefits

Rental cooling is a practical solution for industry and commerce

When processes need to keep running, rental cooling is often the fastest and most cost-effective solution: it bridges the gap during renovations, covers peak demand, or ensures a supply in an emergency—without the long lead times associated with new equipment. That’s exactly why ONI maintains its own fleet of mobile cooling and refrigeration solutions: available at short notice, easy to plan, and designed for temporary use.

Typical benefits for industry and commerce:

  1. Rent quickly instead of standing still: In the event of a breakdown, maintenance, or renovation, rental cooling (also intended as a rental solution) is a pragmatic safeguard for process cooling and process refrigeration.
  2. Flexible cooling capacity: From compact units to larger chillers, the required cooling capacity can be scaled to meet your needs.
  3. Mobile cooling & air conditioning: Temporary supplementary supply, transitional operation, or backup—including cooling, air conditioning, and (depending on the setup) integration of ventilation concepts.
  4. Operational reliability through service & remote access: ONI maintains a service network for its own systems, including data network connectivity, to check status after approval and detect deviations early—a key component for stable rental and service concepts, especially for critical applications.

That’s why you should choose ONI

Everything under one roof

Process: How we implement your rental cooling project

  1. Determine your needs: We assess your load profile, medium (e.g., chilled water), connection options, installation location, and objective: backup, peak shaving, temporary support during retrofitting, or expansion of your existing refrigeration system.
  2. Selecting the right rental solution: Depending on the application, we configure chillers, water circulation/hydraulic components, and, if necessary, additional peripherals and safety features—as a mobile unit or as a modular energy/cooling supply.
  3. Delivery, Installation, Commissioning: ONI ensures that mobile units can be installed and commissioned at the customer’s site in the shortest possible time—this is precisely what rental cooling is designed for.
Commissioning is tailored to your processes to ensure stable startup of process cooling and supply.
  4. Operation & Protection: During operation, service channels are available to detect malfunctions early and minimize downtime (e.g., via data network/remote access upon approval).
This ensures that temporary solutions remain not merely “provisional” but operationally reliable.
  5. Dismantling or Transition to a Permanent Solution: Once the temporary phase ends, dismantling takes place—or, if desired, a smooth transition to a permanent system solution.

Rental Cooling Solutions

Rental Cooling by System & Application

Rental Chiller Water Unit (Hydraulics / Pump-Tank Unit)

When the cold water / water-glycol circuit temporarily lacks hydraulics, buffering, or distribution—e.g., to bridge a gap during renovation, to seamlessly integrate additional rental cooling, or to stabilize the flow rate. Typically, ONI offers a pump-tank unit with complete regulation / control as part of its rental service portfolio.

Rental Cooling: Chiller Replacement

For planned or urgent additional or replacement cooling: Chillers / refrigeration units as a robust rental solution that can be quickly installed and made ready for operation—ranging from a few kW up to large units in the MW range (relevant, for example, for data center expansions or emergency plans).

Rental Cooling for Industry

For production-related requirements with a focus on availability and process reliability—ideal when downtime must be minimized and transitions need to be managed smoothly.
Typical applications include process cooling in manufacturing, safeguarding critical media circuits, and rapid response to failures and planned shutdowns. We provide short-term cooling on demand using mobile units.

Rental cooling for commercial use, including server rooms and data center peripherals

For commercial applications and infrastructure (e.g., building/technical areas, temporary air conditioning, server rooms): short-term additional cooling capacity, transitional operation, or backup during renovations/malfunctions—including a complete system chain with free coolers/cooling towers and hydraulics, if required.

Typical applications for rental cooling

  • Emergency cooling in case of failure (data centers/industry/commercial): Immediate backup cooling to prevent operational downtime; ONI explicitly positions rental cooling as a fast, short-term solution.
  • Renovation/modernization of the cooling system: Temporary cooling while existing systems are being renovated or expanded (particularly common in data centers).
  • Capacity expansion during ongoing operations: Temporary additional cooling for peak loads or expansion phases; ONI offers a wide range of capacities, including very high levels.
  • Commissioning and transition phases in data centers: When new cooling capacity is not yet fully available or redundancy must be temporarily established (rapid installation/commissioning of mobile units).
  • Complete temporary cooling chain: When not only the chiller but also free coolers/cooling towers and pump-tank units, including regulation/control, are required (typically when infrastructure is lacking on-site or rapid scaling is necessary).

FAQ on Rental Cooling

Rental cooling refers to the temporary rental of mobile refrigeration or cooling equipment—as a replacement, temporary solution, or supplementary service. ONI maintains its own fleet of rental refrigeration systems and chillers for this purpose.

ONI states that mobile refrigeration units can be installed and commissioned at the customer’s site in a very short time—depending on factors such as the installation location, connections, and logistics.

Typical components include chillers, auxiliary hydraulic systems (e.g., water-handling components), and, depending on the application, other peripheral equipment. The goal is to ensure stable process cooling or process refrigeration.

Through thorough project planning, professional commissioning, and ongoing support. ONI also describes the ability to access systems via a data network after authorization to check their status and detect anomalies early on.

Yes—rental cooling systems are a common option in the commercial sector, especially for short-term supplemental cooling or temporary air conditioning (e.g., during renovations or in the event of a breakdown).
