ONI-Wärmetrafo GmbH, based in Lindlar, has been named “Opportunity Provider of the Year 2016.” The IHK Foundation for Training Readiness and Securing Skilled Workers is honoring the company’s commitment to integrating refugees. ONI-Wärmetrafo GmbH has invested nearly one million euros in a comprehensive package of measures. Among other things, the company funded language courses for 50 refugees.
In addition, the company created ten additional apprenticeship positions specifically for refugees and hired an additional trainer dedicated to this group. Furthermore, there is a mentoring program that supports the young people with tasks such as dealing with government agencies.
“Many companies in our region are committed to the professional integration of refugees. The commitment of ONI-Wärmetrafo GmbH is an absolutely outstanding example of this,” said Dr. Werner Görg, IHK President and Chairman of the Foundation Board, at the award ceremony in the Früh Lounge at the Hotel Eden Früh am Dom. The award was presented for the third time. Through this initiative, the IHK Foundation aims to promote corporate social responsibility while also raising awareness of successful strategies for securing skilled workers. This year’s focus was on the integration of refugees.
