In Search of Energy-Saving Potential

“It seems our new developments have really hit the mark,” said Wolfgang Oehm, managing partner of ONI-Wärmetrafo, succinctly commenting on the large crowds at the trade show booth in Friedrichshafen.

At times, the high volume of visitors brought things to a near standstill at the Oni booth, despite more than 100 seats and a number of consultation areas. According to the company, visitor numbers were already much higher on the first day of the trade show than they were last year. Wolfgang Oehm and his colleagues attribute this to the new developments in energy savings and process optimization—including the Powersave pa.pe. and Aquaclean Duo system solutions—which were unveiled for the first time at Fakuma. This is understandable when one considers that, for example, the Powersave technology is said to reduce electricity costs for the pumps in the cooling circuit of idle free coolers by 35 to 65 percent. In addition, it is possible to apply for subsidies in the form of grants for this energy-saving technology.

The topic of water treatment without the use of biocides, featuring the Aquaclean system and the further-developed Aquaclean Duo system module for two system circuits, generated significant interest. The issue of improving water quality in cooling circuits, particularly in the mold circuit, is clearly a high priority. The number of concrete project inquiries attests to this.

In addition, a large number of experts learned about the advantages of the temperature control systems from the subsidiary Rhytemper, which were demonstrated on four injection molding machines. Judging by the high number of visitors, the topics of improving energy efficiency and process optimization in companies—also driven by ISO 50001 and EN 16247—continue to be a high priority. Added to this are questions arising, for example, from the 42nd BImSchV or regarding funding opportunities for energy-saving measures, as well as sustainable refrigerants and highly efficient refrigeration technology.

“Based on the extremely high level of visitor interest, the many concrete project proposals, and requests for on-site consultation appointments, we expect very strong post-show business,” summarized Wolfgang Oehm regarding the company’s trade show appearance in Friedrichshafen.
